Understanding Your X-ray Exam
-
An X-ray is one of the most commonly used imaging tests, helping doctors diagnose and treat medical conditions. It uses a low dose of ionizing radiation to create images of the inside of your body, allowing physicians to detect injuries, infections, and other concerns.
Your X-ray Experience at TRA
We prioritize your comfort and care at every step of the process:
- Before Your Exam: Our expert X-ray technologists will review your medical history and answer any questions you may have.
- During the Exam: You’ll be guided through the process to ensure a quick, smooth, and comfortable experience.
Most X-ray exams take just a few minutes, and a technologist will be with you throughout the procedure.
-
Preparing for Your X-ray
-
For most general X-rays, no special preparation is needed. However, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Bring Prior Imaging (If Available): If you have previous X-rays from another facility, providing details (date and location) helps our radiologists compare past and present images.
- Dress Comfortably: You may be asked to remove jewelry or wear a gown to avoid interference with imaging.
- Hold Still for Clear Images: You may be asked to stand, sit, or lie in different positions briefly while the images are taken.
Safety Reminders:
- Only patients are allowed in the X-ray room due to radiation exposure risks.
- Parents and supportive partners will need to wait outside during the exam.
- Please arrange childcare in advance if you have small children.
-
Getting Your X-ray Results
-
- A board-certified radiologist will review and interpret your X-ray images.
- A detailed report will be sent to your referring provider, who will discuss the results with you.
- Results are available in the Patient Connection portal and the Mobile App.
If you have any questions after your X-ray, we encourage you to follow up with your healthcare provider.
-
Walk-in X-ray Hours & Locations
-
We strive to provide same-day service for walk-in X-rays. However, during peak times, capacity may be limited. We appreciate your patience and recommend scheduling in advance when possible.
